News: Development of Micro Enterprise in Ribble Valley
Lancashire County Council is inviting tenders for an exciting initiative to develop micro enterprise in Ribble Valley, Lancashire. It is expected that the successful tenderer will make their base in the Ribble Valley area.
As we move to more adults and older people receiving personal budgets to meet their eligible social care needs, more local, bespoke support services will need to be on offer for people to choose to buy from. Lancashire County Council, working together with local partners, is looking for an organisation with expertise in setting up legal and sustainable community or social enterprise, a proven record of partnership working at a very local level, and good knowledge of social care and personalisation. The organisation will be expected to deliver innovative models and approaches to coordinate and stimulate the development of micro enterprise to meet the needs of local people. They will also be expected to support those with social care needs, carers or other local people with good business ideas to build the confidence, skills and abilities required and to work through challenges to develop social care and community support services. A number and wide range of good quality, local enterprises will be supported and developed within 2 years.
The Adult and Community Services Directorate are looking to invest in the development of micro enterprise in Ribble Valley. The contract will be awarded for 2 years and a budget not exceeding £100,000 over a two year period has been made available. It is expected that the contract will commence on 1st April 2012. Over this time it is the intention that local micro enterprises must be made self sustaining and knowledge and learning will be widely shared throughout Lancashire to support further exciting developments.

Organisations completing the one stage tender questionnaire should ensure that this is received, in line with the instructions provided, by no later than 12 noon on Tuesday 24th January 2012. Any tender questionnaires received after this deadline will be disregarded.
